October Birding was fun and interesting... Several warblers arriving but, lots of "wire bird" photo opportunities. Birds love to perch on the wires outside of Ballantrae (see "birds on the wires" pages ) so, I thought I would feature some nice shots from this month.

 Snowy Egret Usually seen walking around our ponds Noted for its large yellow feet |

 Red-shouldered Hawk This is a younger one, adults are somewhat darker. A patient hunter...eats anything that moves! |

 Belted Kingfisher Usually perches near water and dives to get small prey. Very skittish and hard to photograph |

 European Starling Common perching bird, adults are much darker indigo. Beautiful patterns |
